Richmond completes basic training

Air Force Airman 1st Class Konstance R. Richmond graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Richmond is the daughter of Lila Richmond and granddaughter of  Fredrica Richmond, both of Durham.

She is a 2010 graduate of the Durham School of the Arts.

Moore finishes nuclear power school

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Michael T. Moore has graduated from the U.S. Navy's Enlisted Nuclear Power School at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, S.C.

Nuclear Power School is a rigorous six-month course that trains officer and enlisted students in the science and engineering fundamental to the design, operation and maintenance of naval nuclear propulsion plants.

Graduates next undergo additional instruction at a prototype training unit before serving as an electronics technician, machinist's mate, or electrician's mate aboard a nuclear-powered submarine or surface warfare ship.

Moore is the son of Terry and Karen Moore of Franklinton. His wife, Lorena, is the daughter of Pedro and Monica Millan of Raleigh.

He is a 2009 graduate of South Granville High School, Creedmoor.

Airman Jones completes basic training

Air Force Reserve Airman Evan R. Jones graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Jones is the son of Omega Cummings of Richmond, Va., and grandson of Dorthy Bolden of Graham,.

Boykin graduates from basic training

Boykin is the son of Marvin Boykin of Baltimore and Sandra Boykin of Severn, Md.

He is a 2007 graduate of Riverside High School, Durham. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2012 from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Steven A. Simpson graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Simpson is the son of Carol Simpson of Durham.

He is a 2000 graduate of Riverside High School, Durham. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2005 from Appalachian State University, Boone.
