-- Do you live or work near downtown Durham? Join us for the Central Park Community Volunteer Fair Oct. 16 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Durham Center for Senior Life. Ten non-profits will be on hand to talk with you about their volunteer needs. (406 Rigsbee Ave.)

-- Do you know a volunteer, group or business that gives time to a non-profit, school, or organization? Encourage that non-profit to nominate them for the NC Governor’s Volunteer Service Award. Deadline is Oct. 14.

-- Help package diapers to give to needy mothers on Thursday mornings from 10-noon or Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm.

-- Grace Lutheran Church needs volunteers to help with its Touched by Grace Health Screening Clinic Oct. 12 from 7 a,m,-2 p.m. (824 N. Buchanan Blvd.)

-- The Creative Food Drive is a wonderful family outing Oct. 19. Helpers are needed to make this event a success. Set up before, help during or clean up afterwards.

-- Project Connect Orange County, Oct. 10, is a one-day, one-stop center that connects people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness with a broad range of services, such as housing, employment, health and dental care, mental health care and more. New volunteers must attend an orientation session Oct. 8, 7- 8 pm, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Ministry Center, 300 E. Rosemary St.

-- Do you enjoy the America Tobacco Trail? Help with the Ales for Rail-Trails, a 5K run on Oct. 13 from 2-6 p.m at Fullstream Brewery in Durham.

-- Has someone you know been touched by autism? Help out at the 15th Annual Run/Walk for Autism set for Oct. 12.
