Volunteers of the Week
Gary and Connie Singleton
Donate Life North Carolina & Carolina Donor Services
Volunteer for 3 years
Because of an organ donor’s decision, Gary Singleton received a life-saving lung transplant in 2003 and was given a second chance at life. Along with his wife Connie, they have helped educate the public, students, DMV examiners and many more about the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation.
Gary shares his story as a vehicle to inspire others to join the North Carolina donor state registry. Volunteering in this way just made sense. The two of them have given up many weekends and evenings to staff booths at churches, community events and hospitals. They have spent many hours in Durham and the surrounding areas as living proof that organ donation saves lives.
Without volunteers like Gary and Connie Singleton, not as many people would sign up to be organ donors at the DMV or online. Thank you for being an inspirational to others!
