-- Find out how you can get involved by attending a general volunteer orientation at the Volunteer Center on Aug. 27 at 5:30. (700 W. Main St.)

-- Emily K Center needs 50 friends to attend the Microsoft grand opening on Aug. 21 from 9-11:15 a.m. in order to receive $5,000!

-- Help a homeless child by filling a backpack with hope! Donate school supplies for children helped by Housing for New Hope.

-- Do you have expertise in the sciences? Work with middle and high school aged students in completing  STEM kits for the Cooperative Extension in 4-H.

-- Support someone with cancer by being a walking partner through Cornucopia Cancer Support Center.

-- Do you like to answer the phone and do admin work? Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers to act as receptionists.

-- The Compass Center has weekly support groups for victims of domestic violence. For these women to attend, they must bring their children. Help provide child care during this special time.

-- Do you like to spend time outside in the woods? Help the Piedmont Wildlife Center track box turtles this fall with radio telemetry.
