-- Find out how you can become involved at Urban Ministries of Durham by attending a Volunteer Orientation on Thursday at 9:30 a,m. (410 Liberty Str.)
-- Help Durham Community Land Trustees make home improvements for low to moderate income homeowners by painting, repairing and cleaning on Saturday.
-- Would you like to help transform Oakwood Park into a brand-new playground and park for children and adults? Help is needed Oct. 31 and Nov. 2.
-- Would you and your spouse like to visit with another couple? The Friendly Visitor Program needs a man and woman to visit a senior couple who has limited mobility.
-- Pitch in and help out at Birchwood Learning Center! Teach life skills or computer skills. Tutor. Help out in the Food Pantry.
-- Do you have administrative skills? Quickbooks? Arc of Durham County and EDGE Training and Placement both need help in their offices.
-- Do you like birthdays and story times? Arts and crafts? Field trips? Help out with special events at Kidzu Children’s Museum on a regular or as needed basis.
-- Prepare a meal at the SECU Family House for guests. Offer a break from vending machine meals, as well as the opportunity to sit down and relax.
-- Teach the basics of personal financial skills and general money management to 4th through 8th grade students using The Money Game in Orange County schools during and after school.
