Volunteer of the Week
Mark Royster is board chair and treasurer of Partners for Youth, a mentoring and summer jobs program for students. He has helped this organization at all levels, doing everything from one-on-one mentoring to stepping up as a leader to ensure that PFY could continue when it faced difficulties. Mark supports individual adolescents, recruits mentors, brings in donations, and connects with teachers, business leaders and young professionals.
He is committed to helping organizations that serve African American youth, and his conviction that young people can rise above adversity is a real source of inspiration. Both action-oriented and a good listener, Mark looks at complex problems rationally. The combination of his military background and his willingness to be open-minded and forgiving makes him a unique leader and a wonderful asset to the Durham community.
Thank you, Mark Royster, for supporting and guiding this great organization!
