-- To learn more about the work of Urban Ministries of Durham and see where you might like to help, attend a Volunteer Orientation, Wednesday at 10 am.

-- Help pack bags of food for seniors any day Monday-Thursday during the workday at the Durham Center for Senior Life. Food and bags are provided.

-- Would you like to encourage youngsters to get involved in music on MLK Day? Help MusicianCorps with a Musical Petting Zoo at Northgate Mall on  Jan. 20. The event goes from 12:30 - 6 p.m.

-- Want to serve on MLK Day? The Emily K Center needs help painting classrooms, maintenance and landscaping, Jan. 20, 9 a.m.-noon.

-- Are you a Duke Garden’s lover? Become a Docent for school groups. Docent training begins in February.

-- Do you know how to maintain a website? Kids Voting Durham needs a volunteer to develop and maintain its website.

-- Learn how you can get involved with the InterFaith Council of Social Services by attending a Volunteer Orientation Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. The orientation is held in the Douglas Building, 110 W. Main St., Carrboro.

-- Or, if you would like to volunteer with Carolina Meadows Retirement Community, attend their Volunteer Orientation on Wednesday at 4 pm. Find out how you can be involved.

-- Are you a knitter? Help knit Care Shawls for Duke HomeCare & Hospice on Jan. 23, from 7-9 p.m. at Chapel Hill Bible Church, 260 Erwin Rd.
