Volunteer of the Week
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools’ Volunteers & Partners for Education
Volunteer for 14 years
Patricia Poret, an ESL volunteer, helps ease new Korean and Spanish-speaking students into the school routine upon entering school as a First Day Friend. She also assists struggling K-2nd grade students as a school reading partner and helps ESL K-8th grade students with vocabulary in core subjects and developing study skills. She works with students individually and with teachers in the classroom.
A former nursing instructor, Patricia has been on a 60-year journey in education. That experience helps her as she volunteers during the school day, working diligently with students of every age and grade level. She “is dedicated to helping students and others succeed in life,” writes GeorgeAnn McCay of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.
Thank you, Patricia Poret, for giving time to students of many ages and in several different languages!
