-- Do you like to attend the Wake County Speedway? Cornucopia Cancer Support Center is receiving the proceeds from a 50/50 tickets sale at the speedway this Friday, but they need volunteers willing to sell tickets for a shift of two hours at the race. Call Will at (919) 401-9333.
-- New Volunteer Orientation for the Museum of Life and Science is Thursday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
-- Help teach someone to read! Attend a Volunteer Orientation for the Durham Literacy Center on any of these days: Wednesday, Thursday or Aug. 12 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
-- Help the Museum of Life and Science celebrate Engineer’s Week Saturday. Volunteers will join professional engineers and students from all over the Triangle for a day of interactive experiments. Demonstrate the latest techie toys and activities designed to offer hands-on experiences.
-- The American Red Cross needs drivers to transport folks to doctor appointments who have no other means of transportation. Volunteers drive Red Cross vehicles and are in touch via walkie-talkie with a dispatcher.
-- Help sort and bag food for needy seniors at the Durham Center for Senior Life. Volunteers are needed every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for a shift of two hours.
-- Do you have an interest in the arts? Arts for Life operates at Duke Children’s Hospital. Teach classes or help in behind-the-scene ways.
-- Do you enjoy history? Help organize and plan the Voices from the Grave Cemetery Tour scheduled Oct. 25-26. Help with promotional materials, ticket sales, rehearsals, and guide training.
