-- Answer the phone line for the Share Your Christmas program in the Volunteer Center office near downtown Durham. Volunteers are needed until Dec. 3. Two shifts are available, 9 a.m. -1 p.m. and 1 - 4:30 p.m.

-- Would you like to be a Santa’s helper? Help out at the Share Your Christmas Distribution Site at Northgate Mall which is open Dec. 2-13.

-- Help wrap gifts at Barnes and Noble for Genesis Home on Dec. 6, 11 or 19. Volunteers must be at least 17 years of age.

-- Holiday Fun Fest is a Durham tradition. Volunteer Opportunities include train ride assistant, Santa's helper, Community Care Corner assistant, and the Peppermint Plunge ride coordinator on Dec. 7.

-- Santa’s Toy Shop with the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program needs volunteers to sort, package and organize toys Dec. 9-13 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. 

-- Help TABLE Ministries feed the area’s children. Community volunteers are needed Monday and Tuesday evenings, Thursday mornings and Thursday afternoons.

-- Help serve meals to the needy during the cold days of December at the Community Kitchen of the Inter-Faith Council for Social Services. Three meals are served each day.

-- Bake and individually package dessert items of your choice for recipients of Meals on Wheels of Chapel Hill-Carrboro. Sugar-free baked goods are especially needed.

-- Volunteer as a tour guide for Preservation Chapel Hill’s Holiday House Tour Dec. 14 and 15.
