The Volunteer Center’s next General Volunteer Orientation will be Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Artspace. Reps from Artspace, Animalkind and PLM Families Together will be there to share how they utilize volunteers. (201 E. Davie St., Raleigh)

-- Do you love animals? AnimalKind is in need of an assistant outreach volunteer coordinator for Durham County.

-- Learn about Guatemalan culture and health issues with Curamericas Global on a trip to Huehuetenango June 8-17.

-- The Durham Literacy Center's Teen Career Academy provides one-on-one tutoring with young adults who are pursuing their GED. Become an instructor Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. 

-- Make a difference in the lives of seniors by calling them on a weekly or daily basis at the Durham Center for Senior Life.

-- Waste Reduction Partners needs volunteers to do waste reduction and water and energy assessments in central and eastern North Carolina. 

-- Carolina Villages needs kind-hearted, occasional volunteers to help older adults in Chapel Hill and Carrboro remain in their own homes as long as possible. 

-- Do you sew? UNC Hospitals needs volunteers to make infant gowns and cover boxes with fabric.
