Bahama Ruritan welcomes newest member
The Bahama Ruritan Club recently celebrated its newest member, Kristine Ferrell. She had volunteered in many Bahama Ruritan events in the past.
The Bahama Ruritans have an outstanding history of serving the community. Its newest member will assist the Bahama Ruritan Club in serving local citizens and the northern Durham County community on Ruritan projects.
The next major project is the annual Bahama Ruritan BBQ and Brunswick Stew Nov. 9 in the clubhouse dining hall. This dinner involves the preparation of approximately 2,000 quarts of the famous Bahama Ruritan Brunswick stew which is slow-cooked in cast iron pots and served as either all you can eat (dine in) or as take out.
The stew served along with eastern North Carolina-style pork BBQ, creamy cole slaw, hush puppies, and home-made desserts attracts families from across northern Durham and southern Virginia.
