"Mrs. Claus' visits Tobaccoland Kiwanis
Kiwanian Patty Gentry (center) introduced the Rev. Laurie Hays Coffman (left), chaplain at Croasdaile Village, as the speaker at the Dec.16 meeting of the Tobaccoland Kiwanis Club of Durham. Coffman portrayed Mrs. Santa Claus, in costume, and presented a narrated story of the historical Saint Nicholas to the current Mr. Santa Claus. Gentry played the role of an outside person who asked questions about Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus' role and the meaning of Christmas. Coffman asked each club member, with commentary, what they would like as a gift for Christmas. The meeting concluded with Coffman leading the singing of Christmas carols. Pianist Marcy Davis (right), a Croasdaile Village resident, provided the music accompaniment for the singing.
