North Carolina births peak in '07

RALEIGH -- More babies were born to North Carolina residents in 2007 than ever before -- 130,886. The state's infant mortality rate was 8.5 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2007, a five percent increase over the 2006 rate of 8.1, the lowest rate in the state's history.
