Pedestrian hit in downtown Chapel Hill
Downtown traffic was tied in knots for almost an hour Monday as police investigated a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at the corner of E. Franklin and Columbia streets after 6 p.m.
According to the Chapel Hill Police Department, police responded to a report of a traffic collision where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at approximately 6:20 p.m.
The pedestrian was transported to UNC Hospitals with what appeared to be non- life threatening injuries, according to the Police Department. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Few details about the incident were available Monday, but Town Manager Roger Stancil confirmed before the start of Monday’s Town Council meeting that a pedestrian had been hit.
