Youth topic of 4H forum
Orange County’s 4-H program is gearing up for its annual community forum.
Scheduled for 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 30, the community forum will give the public the opportunity to weigh in on the needs of the youth in Orange County.
“We’re a community and it’s very important to sit down at the table and talk about the issues facing our youth,” said Sheronda Witter, 4-H youth development extension agent. “The needs facing youth in Orange County are different than those facing youth in Durham or Wake counties.
“It’s also important for the youth to come out as well,” she said.
Only in its second year, Witter said that the community forum provided a lot of insight on the issues facing the youth throughout the county.
“We used the information to guide our programming,” she said. “I also developed partnerships with the organizations and agencies that were present.”
Witter added that last year’s forum was well attended, with educators, state legislators, county commissioners, parents and youth among the crowd.
The forum will be held at 306 Revere Road in Hillsborough and dinner will be served. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Jan. 27 by calling (919) 245-2050.
