Community Police Academy to accept applications
The Chapel Hill Police Department will begin accepting applications for its Spring Police Academy on Monday.
Set to begin April 9, the Community Police Academy is a three-day event that gives community members an inside look at how the town’s Police Department operates.
The Community Police Academy is meant to increase understanding and awareness of the role of the department and the day-to-day life of a police officer through hands-on activities and discussions.
Participants will also get to be a part of exercises simulating real police scenarios, arrest procedures, social and mental health issues, investigations, special emergency response capabilities, officer equipment demonstrations and more.
Participants in the Community Police Academy have to be 16 years of age or older. The application deadline is March 17.
The application can be downloaded through the Town of Chapel Hill website.
