Business changes at Hillsborough Station

Paws at the Corner: The Depot at Hillsborough Station, a music venue and general store that operated for about three years at the redeveloped train station on Nash Street in Hillsborough, closed in December.

Paws at the Corner, an independent pet supply store, is moving next door into the larger space. The store will open there Feb. 3.

Hillsborough Station is home to Paws at the Corner as well as the barbecue restaurant Hillsborough BBQ Co. and the brewery Mystery Brewing Co.

Lisa Wells, owner of Paws at the Corner, was also excited about construction on a new greenway she hopes will allow people to walk from downtown Hillsborough to Hillsborough Station.

At full build-out, the greenway will connect the Occonneechee Mountain State Natural Area to the Historic Occoneechee Speedway trail system, passing through downtown. A section of sidewalk improvements are expected to allow people at Hillsborough Station to access the greenway.

Coffee shops in Pittsboro: A coffee shop in Pittsboro has opened called Blue Dot Coffee at 53 Hillsboro St., and another called Café Diem also opened in town at 18 E. Salisbury St.
