Trio charged with stealing belongings of man they left behind
Three people left an acquaintance behind at a convenience store near Pittsboro and then allegedly drove to his home to steal his belongings.
The incident occurred on June 21 when a Pittsboro police officer saw a man, who was walking from a convenience store, and stopped to check on him. The man said he had been with three people, and they left him behind at the store.
The officer gave the man a ride back to his home on Golden Heather Road, which is at the Preserve at Jordan Lake golf course community.
When they arrived, they saw the three people in his driveway with some of his property in the car, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.
The police officer radioed for help, and Chatham County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene. They discovered that the trio had broken into his house and stolen nearly $5,000 worth of property, according to the sheriff’s office.
The property was recovered, and all three were arrested at the scene.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office charged Racquel Emerson, 21, of 2641 Appliance Court, Raleigh and Briana Saliani, 19, of 103 Beasley Court, Cary, each with possessing a stolen firearm, breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen property. Saliani also was charged with larceny of a firearm. Each was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond, and both are scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 29.
The sheriff’s office also charged Sean Cruz, 25, of 2641 Appliance Court, Raleigh, with possessing a stolen firearm, possessing a firearm by felon, larceny of firearm, breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen property and child abuse. He was jailed under a $50,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 29.
