Willoughby-Brownlee Wedding

Dr. Kathryn Marie Willoughby, of Columbia, SC, and Dr. Robert Calvin Brownlee, IV, of Chapel Hill, NC, were married March 29, 2013 at six-thirty in the evening. The ceremony took place beneath the live oaks in Washington Square Park in downtown Charleston. The wedding was officiated by Chaplain Terry Wilson of the Medical University of South Carolina. A private dinner followed in the Vintner’s Room of the Charleston Grill. 
Dr. Willoughby is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Willoughby of Columbia. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sally Strickland Willoughby of Nichols, SC and the late Mr. Sherwood Lee Willoughby and the late Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Hawkins, formerly of Columbia, SC. A graduate of Richland Northeast High School, the bride received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History, graduating magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University. Thereafter, she received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona before returning to MUSC to finish her residency training. Kathryn then completed a chief residency year and is now beginning a fellowship training program in Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Brownlee is a son of Judith Irby Brownlee of Pawleys Island, SC and the late Dr. Robert Calvin Brownlee, III. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson Irby, formerly of Columbia, SC and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Calvin Brownlee, Jr., formerly of Due West, SC. The groom is a graduate of Durham Academy and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Thereafter, he completed medical school at MUSC and is currently completing a dual training program in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at MUSC.
The ceremony and following reception were private affairs attended only by the immediate family. The bride and groom had no designated attendants. The bride wore a short, silk crepe Thakoon dress and carried a bouquet of English roses, peonies, and blue bells. Following a honeymoon trip to Belize, the couple is pleased to call Charleston, SC home.
