NC IT job postings down in January

RALEIGH -- North Carolina IT job postings were down in January by 12.9 percent compared with the same month last year, according to a report released recently, but last year’s posted labor demands were high.

That’s according to the N.C. Technology Association’s “North Carolina IT Job Trends” report by SkillPROOF, and sponsored by The Select Group.

The report said there were an estimated 3,590 information technology job openings in January in the state.

That total was down about 12.9 percent compared with the month last year, but it was up from December by about 6.8 percent.

“The fact that January was a better month for job seekers than December makes us hopeful that employers have not lost their optimism,” the report said.

Pop singer to be Burt’s Bees product spokeswoman

NEW YORK -- Pop singer and song writer Carly Rae Jepsen is to be the first spokeswoman for the Burt’s Bees natural personal care brand güd.

The brand, which was targeted to younger women, launched last year as the first product line for Durham-based Burt’s Bees to operate under a different brand name.

Jepsen will appear in a multimedia marketing campaign that will debut this spring, according to a news release.

Burt’s Bees is a business unit of California-based consumer products company The Clorox Co.
