Boutique opening on Broad
Jo’s Boutique: In the Broad Street building that also houses Hummingbird Bakery, it looks like women’s fashion store Jo’s Boutique on Broad is looking to open.
It’s going into 721 Broad St., Suite 102, which is the location that previously housed Step, the shoe and accessories store that moved into the Main Street space that also houses the women’s clothing and accessories boutique Smitten. Nancy McKaig owns both Smitten and Step.
Northgate news: Dress for Success Triangle is holding its public quarterly inventory excess sale May 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The sale will be in a suite at Northgate Mall between Sears and the carousel.
There will be women’s clothing and accessories on sale including suits for $15, pants, skirts, tops, handbags and shoes for $5, and new designer brand names for 90 percent off retail price.
The sales event includes an early bird promotion: Arrive at 9 a.m., donate $20, and get early access.
Dress for Success Triangle provides business-appropriate clothing, mentoring and professional development programs to women who are referred from job training programs, educational institutions, homeless shelters and domestic violence shelters, among other organizations.
Also at Northgate, the Silvana store has a new owner, and is now named Laila. It’s selling junior, misses and women’s clothing including dresses, club wear, lingerie and accessories.
Showroom to open: After running a remodeling business out of their home for more than a decade, Kenneth and Ericka Combs are opening an office, kitchen and bath showroom for their business.
Their firm, CQC, is a general contracting company that specializes in residential remodeling. A ribbon cutting for the showroom will be May 2 from 11 a.m. to noon at 3321 Guess Road in Durham.
Kenneth Combs said in a prepared statement that the space will allow clients to plan their projects and look at cabinet, flooring and other samples.
