Holiday pop-ups at Northgate

Northgate gets holiday pop-ups: A handful of seasonal shops have popped up at Northgate Mall for the holidays.

The owners of the mall’s existing ekowireless store have opened kiosks that will be open through Dec. 31. One kiosk is devoted to “i accessories,” or Apple product cases and accessories. The other sells the “Splat Ball,” a stress reliever ball.

Cageside Fight Co. is open through Dec. 24 selling T-shirts, hats, and boxing equipment.

Royal Cheesecake & Varieties is elling cheesecakes, cupcakes, coffee and muffins from a kiosk across rom Aeropostale Dec. 15-24.   

Another kiosk called U.S. Home Exteriors is selling exterior home products such as windows, insulation, and siding through Dec. 31.

Another kiosk called Marley Coffee is selling coffee sourced from Ethiopia, Central America and Jamaica, flavors add-ins, hot teas and hot chocolate.

Northgate Mall is at 1058 W. Club Blvd.

Massage Envy Spa at Erin Mill: The new Massage Envy is targeted to open at The Shops at Erwin Mill in mid-December.

The renovated shops are near the new Harris Teeter off Ninth Street.

Toro dinner No. 2 at The Cookery: The staff of Pizzeria Toro is hosting another dinner at The Cookery, this time to benefit Urban Ministries of Durham.

This dinner is called “Toro Dreams of The Chupacabra,” and will feature Mexican street food including goat tamales.

It’s named for “chupacabra,” a mythical blood-sucking monster that preys on goats. They’re actually believed to be coyotes with severe cases of mange. 

There will be seatings at 6 and 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Tickets are $25. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food donations with their tickets.

Tickets are being sold online only.
