Cree Inc. appoints chief financial officer
DURHAM – Durham-based Cree Inc. announced Monday that Mike McDevitt was appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective immediately.
McDevitt has worked as the interim chief financial officer and vice president since May 22 of last year.
Prior to taking the job, he held roles at Cree including director of sales operations, director of financial planning and corporate controller.
He took the interim job following the resignation of John T. Kurtzweil, who left Cree to take a job as finance chief of Extreme Networks Inc., a Santa Clara, Calif.,-based publicly traded company that provides network infrastructure equipment and services for enterprises, data centers and service providers.
Cree officials started a national search for a chief financial officer.
“After conducting an exhaustive national search, we realized Mike is the best candidate for the job,” said Chuck Swoboda, Cree’s chairman and CEO, in a news release.
Cree is a maker of LEDs, LED lighting, and semiconductor products for power and radio frequency applications. Its products include LED fixtures and bulbs, blue and green LED chips, high-brightness LEDs, lighting-class power LEDs, power-switching devices and radio frequency devices.
