RTI to acquire California-based education research firm
RTI International has reached an agreement to acquire Berkeley, Calif.-based MPR Associates Inc., an education research and consulting firm.
The firm has about 80 staff members with backgrounds in the social sciences, public policy, teaching and technology, according to a news release from RTI, the nonprofit contract research institute based in the Research Triangle Park.
MPR does research in kindergarten through 12th grade, and in adult education subjects, according to the release. Its clients include federal, state and local government agencies, as well as nonprofit organizations, businesses and foundations.
For more than 20 years, RTI has partnered with the firm on post-secondary education projects for the National Center for Education Statistics in the U.S. Department of Education, according to the release.
The acquisition is expected to close by the end of the year. MPR will become part of RTI’s Education Studies Division.
RTI President and CEO Wayne Holden said in a statement the acquisition will add to RTI’s education research capabilities, resulting in a larger organization that uses technology, innovation and administrative data analysis to better serve its clients.
