Breeden named Financial Engineer of the Year
DURHAM -- Amundi Smith Breeden today announced that Smith Breeden Associates’ co-founder and former chairman Douglas T. Breeden, has been named the 2013 International Association for Quantitative Finance/SunGard Financial Engineer of the Year.
Amundi Smith Breeden LLC, which is the former Smith Breeden Associates Inc., is the North American investment headquarters for Amundi.
The award will be presented to Breeden by IAQF senior fellow, former award winner and Nobel laureate Robert C. Merton a gala dinner on Feb. 6 in New York City.
The annual award, established in 1993, recognizes individual contributions to the advancement of financial engineering technology.
Breeden is a professor of finance and former dean of Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He also serves as senior research consultant for Amundi Smith Breeden, a money management firm he co-founded and was chairman of from 1982 to 2005.

Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors announces new director
CHAPEL HILL – The Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors has announced that Desiree Goldman is the association’s new government affairs director. 
Goldman has served as the association’s legislative affairs liaison for four years. She is responsible for educating Realtors members about local land use and legislative activity that impacts the real estate industry. 
Goldman was awarded “Realtor of the Year” by the Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors in 2010.
