Market Street Coffeehouse in 3Cups’ space

Market Street Coffeehouse is setting up shop in the space that previously housed 3Cups in Chapel Hill.
3Cups closed the Elliott Road shop where it sold wine, coffee, tea and beer. The business was another food venture of Lex Alexander, the co-founder of the Wellspring grocery stores in Durham and Chapel Hill.

Shiki Sushi owner planning new concept

The owner of Durham’s Shiki Sushi Asian Bistro, Sushi & Bar is making plans to shift the restaurant’s operations into a neighboring space under a different name so he can renovate the old Shiki space and open an Asian fondue, or hot pot, concept.
Shiki Sushi opened in 2001 at 207 W. N.C. 54 in the Homestead Market shopping center near N.C. 54’s intersection with Fayetteville Road, serving two-for-the-price-of-one sushi rolls and a range of other items.

Chapel Hill’s Eastgate to get new Italian grill

Carmine’s Ristorante & Pizzeria has closed in the Eastgate shopping center in Chapel Hill, and a new restaurant, Vinny’s Italian Grill & Pizzeria, is planned to open in its place in three to four weeks.
Sarah North, marketing manager for the real estate ownership, operations and development company Federal Realty Investment Trust, said Carmine’s closed Jan. 24.

Ninth Street playing musical stores

The Duck Shop, the Duke University apparel shop that’s been on Ninth Street since 1993, is moving on Ninth to the renovated building that previously housed the restaurant George’s Garage.
