Micky’s replaces Krispy Krunchy Chicken at Northgate
Northgate news: Micky’s Chicken and Fish is now open at Northgate Mall’s Food Gallery, according to a news release from the mall.
The eatery opened in a 464-square-foot space that previously housed Krispy Krunchy Chicken.
Micky’s has chicken and seafood options such as fried chicken fingers, wings, or catfish, whiting, tilapia, and perch platters accompanied by sauces including barbecue, blue cheese, nacho and ranch.
They also have fries, coleslaw, Italian beef and Polish sausage sandwiches, as well as desserts such as banana and rice pudding, peach cobbler and cheese cake.
They serve breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. with breakfast biscuits and coffee.
Micky’s is next to Tomo Japan and Master Wok.
More on Gateway Terrace: A developer is planning a new hotel and additional restaurants and shops on more than six acres off U.S. 15-501 at its intersection with Southwest Durham Drive. The project is in front of Patterson Place and across from New Hope Commons and Indigo Corners.
Anuj Mittal, co-owner of the Raleigh-based lead project developer MJM Group, said a new PDQ restaurant is confirmed for the project. PDQ is as restaurant chain that started in Florida by a partnership that included the co-founder of Outback Steakhouse, said Tom Allen, who’s developing PDQ restaurants in North and South Carolina.
The restaurant serves grilled or fried chicken sandwiches, salads, fries, chicken tenders, and milk shakes, Allen said.
The chain is modeled after a restaurant called Tenders, in Cornelius in Mecklenburg County. Allen said it was acquired in 2010. The first restaurant under the name PDQ, which stands for “People Dedicated to Quality,” opened in October 2011 in Florida.
Allen said the restaurant at Gateway Terrace is planned to open in the fall.
Mittal said there are also plans to open a Chipotle Mexican Grill at the site. Chris Arnold, communications director for Chipotle, said a restaurant is slated to open there late this year, but it’s too far off to put a date to it yet.
In addition, the developers are also working to try to bring a Bruegger’s Bagels to the project.
Mittal said lease terms have been agreed on for a bagel restaurant at the site, but that lease hasn’t been signed. A spokeswoman for Bruegger’s didn’t have any information about a new restaurant at the site.
“Our attorneys are reviewing it, but we’ve come to all the terms,” Mittal said.
The Parlour update: The new brick-and-mortar location for the mobile ice cream business The Parlour is slated to open in three to five weeks at 117 Market St., said Yoni Mazuz, co-owner.
The location is in a space downtown that previously housed the production kitchen for Locopops.
“I feel like we go back and forth between being nervous about not having enough business or not being able to handle the crowds,” Mazuz said of the plans for the new shop.
They’re planning to have a wider selection of ice cream flavors at the shop, as well as cookies to make ice cream sandwiches or cake, as well as espresso, and sodas made with house-made syrups.
He said they’ll have more selection on the shop than they have on the bus, which he said they’ve started taking it back out on the road again after a winter hiatus.
