Yum to open in Hillsborough: A gelato, sorbet and crepe shop called Yum is targeted to open May 1 at 118 N. Churton St. in downtown Hillsborough.

Mick and Kate Carroll, the operators of Radius Pizzeria& Pub, are opening the new sweets shop.

They’re planning to have handcrafted, small-batch gelato in flavors like lime-cilantro, bourbon chocolate pecan pie or strawberry goat cheese, sorbet, root beer floats and ginger ale, and traditional sundaes and banana splits.

Dessert crepes will be made on-site with fillings like banana, strawberry, chocolate hazelnut spread, chocolate sauce or butter and brown sugar.
