Durham Golf Center: The property that housed the non-operational Durham Golf Center driving range on Garrett Road has been sold.
Terry A. Wethington said he bought the property at 4343 Garrett Road in December as an investment. He said he doesn’t have any plans for it yet, but it won’t be used as a golf center.
He works with a company that develops storage centers, but said there are no plans for a storage center on that site now.
“It may be in the future, but not right now,” he said, also stating that he could potentially see the property developed as light-density residential, but he hasn’t gotten that far yet.
“I really do not have any set use for it right now,” he said.
Wethington bought the property for $800,000 from a limited liability company organized by a BB&T official, according to property and business records.

Sharky Eat & 8: An eatery called Sharky Eat & 8 has opened up in place of the Durham Pizza Restaurant at 4707 Hillsborough Road in Durham in a small strip shopping center that also houses a gas station.
Owner Zack Chahine said he planned to open a sports bar and restaurant in the location, but he doesn’t have room for pool tables in the approximately 3,000-square-foot space. He said he’s eyeing a space next door that houses a sweepstakes business.
The eatery serves pizza, Italian food, cheeseburgers, and Philly cheese steaks. Chahine said they also plan to serve alcohol, but opened with a limited menu about a week ago and were not serving alcohol as of Tuesday.
