Patterson’s Mill Country Store owners to get a break: The Patterson’s Mill Country Store on Farrington Road, which is turning 40 years old next year, will close Dec. 29 to Feb. 3 to allow the owners to clean out the store and revamp the interior.

Curtis Booker, who runs the store with his wife and daughter, said they’ve planned to close after the holiday rush. January is typically the business’ slowest month, Booker said.

“We just have a lot of work we need to do inside, we need a break,” he said. “After the Christmas holidays, it gives us an opportunity to clean out the store and revamp everything.”

The store will have a sale Dec. 28-29 to help them reduce their inventory. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Bleu Olive Bistro & Cafe: The owners of the Papas Grille closed the restaurant in June of this year to allow for interior renovations, and re-opened the eatery Nov. 20 as the Bleu Olive Bistro & Café.

Sam Papanikas, who owns the restaurant with his mother and father, said Papas Grille was in business for 18 years. The eatery now has a more casual atmosphere and an updated menu, he said.

“The whole style of the décor is more casual, more inviting, a more cozy feel – (we’re) really trying to do more of a casual feel,” he said.

The menu includes burgers, pasta and tapas selections, he said, as well as items from their previous menu such as stuffed chicken breast with bacon and spinach and feta served over mushroom Asiago risotto.

They completed the renovation alongside the renovation of the shopping center previously known as Loehmann’s Plaza, but now called Croasdaile Commons.

“The construction is still going on no the far side of the plaza,” he said.

The restaurant is at the shopping center at 1821 Hillandale Road. For more information, call 919-383-8502.
