Plans in the works for another pizza eatery downtown
Pizza eatery proposal: Seth Gross, owner of the downtown restaurant and brewery Bull City Burger and Brewery, is planning a second restaurant.
Incorporation paperwork has been filed with the N.C. Secretary of State to create a business called Pompieri Pizza.
There's also a Facebook page for a restaurant of the same name, listing the proposed address of the restaurant at 102 City Hall Plaza.
That’s the address for the Fire House at Roger’s Alley. The downtown property, currently empty, is owned by Durham's Greenfire Development.
No finalized lease is on record yet at the Durham County Register of Deeds records, however.
The word “pompieri” means “firefighters” in Italian. Gross said Tuesday that he can’t talk about the new venture yet.
He opened Bull City Burger and Brewery downtown in March 2011 at 107 E. Parrish St.
He also was part of the team that opened Wine Authorities on University Drive. His co-founder bought his interest in that business, and Gross moved on to pursue Bull City Burger.
Bull City Craft anniversary: Bull City Craft marks its two-year anniversary on April 12 with a celebration at the art supply store and craft studio.
The event, from 4 to 7 p.m., will include painting, a duct tape craft demonstration and a fundraiser for Ecojot’s GIVE program that donates notebooks to children in need.
The store is at 2501 University Dr. in Durham. The event is free and open for all ages.
