New studios in Chapel Hill, South Durham: The owners of the Bikram Yoga Durham studio plan to open a second location, this one in Chapel Hill.

Bikram yoga is a series of 26 yoga postures and breathing techniques practiced in a heated room, according to the studio’s website, http://www.bikramdurham.com/index.php/about/yoga.

The Bikram Yoga Durham studio opened in 2010 at the downtown Golden Belt complex on East Main Street.

Now the studio’s owners plan a second studio in 3,295 square feet in Chapel Hill’s Greenbridge Condominiums.

The mixed-use development includes condos as well as retail space.

Also, in South Durham, a new studio called Arrichion Hot Yoga, is slated to open in the Southpoint Crossing shopping center Fayetteville Road and N.C. 54.

The studio is part of a family-owned business behind other studios in Raleigh and in Charlotte.

Quinn Reynolds, part-owner of the new Durham studio, said the studio is near Bull City Running Co. and the American Tobacco Trail. She said hot yoga has benefits for runners, helping them to stretch and preventing injuries.

Reynolds said her father, who was a wrestling coach, started offering private lessons. He launched the practice initially to help her brothers train, but expanded it to help others.

Reynolds said she got training to teach hot yoga, and went into business with her two brothers. Wrestling coaching is also offered in the Arrichion locations in both the Raleigh and Charlotte.
