Ninth Street pub may close

Charlie’s Pub & Grille: After 13 years on Ninth Street, the owner of Charlie’s Pub & Grille said he isn’t sure how long he’s going to be able to stay open.

Owner Mike Cole said the owner of the building at 758 Ninth St. is looking to raise the rent for the location and go in a different direction.

Cole said in the time he’s been open, he’s established a strong bond with his employees and with the community. Patrons and local residents also praised the restaurant and Cole for hosting and sponsoring numerous fundraisers and benefit events.

Reached by phone, one of the property owners would not comment Friday.

The store is in a 1,094-square-foot space in the mall across from Northgate’s Customer Service Center.

It’s owned by mother-and-son team Soheir Eltokhy and Eslam Eltokhy, according to a news release from the mall.

“We are so pleased to have this type of menswear option here again at Northgate, which is quite similar to our popular Hat Lounge, which sold custom and popular branded hats for men,” Melodie Griffin-Pugh, Northgate director of marketing, said.
