Freelon Group announces award
DURHAM – The American Institute of Architects Triangle Chapter has awarded a merit award to The Freelon Group recognizing design excellence for the recently completed Lord Corp. phase one office building at its 2013 design awards presentation and reception, according to a news release.
The new building is the first of a four-building master plan for the new office buildings on the Lord Corp.’s campus in Cary.  The project is intended to provide a high performance workspace with special attention to flexibility, environmental workplace quality, and environmental conservation.
The Freelon Group is a 60-person architectural firm founded by Philip G. Freelon, a fellow in the American Institute of Architects, in 1990. The firm’s design portfolio centers on higher education, science/technology, libraries and museum and cultural center projects.
Healing Waters hires spa director for N.C. market
DURHAM – Casey Stoneman has been hired as the spa director and marketing associate for Healing Waters Spa & Cosmetic Clinic’s North Carolina market, according to a news release.
In the role, Stoneman will be responsible for engaging staff in the management of day-to-day clinic operations to ensure the success of all company procedures and client satisfaction with spa-related services.
Stoneman will also oversee each of the spa’s social media networks and collaborate with marketing personnel to increase the clinic’s public outreach and surpass communications goals.
Prior to joining Healing Waters Spa & Cosmetic Clinic, Stoneman served as creative director for College Media Solutions, where she guided advertising and marketing efforts of all major student-run publications at Virginia Tech.
She also interned with both TurnKey Promotions and Kohl’s. Stoneman received a dual bachelor’s degree in visual communication design and public relations from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
Special Event Co. CEO recognized
DURHAM – The Special Event Co., a strategic event and meeting management company, has announced that the firm’s CEO Sally Webb has accepted a 2013 Enterprising Women of the Year award from Enterprising Women at the magazine’s annual awards ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Each year, Enterprising Women presents the Enterprising Women of the Year awards to top women entrepreneurs who represent hard work, expertise and dedication to promoting business success for all women.
Webb was recognized in the over $1 million and up to $5 million in annual sales revenue category, according to a news release.
The Special Event Company is a strategic event and meeting management company founded in 1986 in London and operating in the United States since 1999. The company opened its U.S. headquarters in the Triangle in 2005.
