Cellbreaker appoints CTO
Durham-based Cellbreaker, which assists customers in ending cellphone service contracts breached by the carrier, appointed Zach Colon as chief technology officer.
According to a release from the company, Colon is a full-stack engineer and has developed technologies for Fortune 50 companies.
Longfellow adds associate
Neill Sherron has joined Longfellow Real Estate Partners, which partnered to buy two downtown Durham buildings that are now leased by Duke University, as an associate.
Sherron previously served as senior leasing associate with Spectrum Properties.
Longfellow is nearing completion on transforming the Carmichael building in downtown Durham from a tobacco warehouse to Class A laboratory and office space for Duke, according to a release.
Durham contractor recognized
Kenneth Combs, owner of Custom Quality Carpentry, received the 2014 40 under 40 award from Professional Remodeler Magazine.
The 2014 class was chosen from more than 100 applicants across the U.S. Combs was the only North Carolina contractor to win the award, according to a company release.
Washington Duke Inn wins three awards
The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club recently won the 2014 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, an annual award recognizing wine locations on the basis of selection, producers and menus.
Washington Duke Inn also won the 2014 Expedia Insiders’ Select award, which recognized the top hotels as chosen by travel site Expedia’s nearly two million guest reviews.
According to a release, Washington Duke Inn was one of 650 winners worldwide out of 290,000 bookable properties on Expedia.
The business also won the TripAdvisor 2014 Certificate of Excellence.
John R. McAdams a “top workplace”
ZweigWhite ranked Durham-based engineering company John R. McAdams 27th in the civil engineering category for Best Firms to Work For list.
Firms that applied for this ranking were evaluated on firm culture, workplace practices, employee benefits, employee retention rates and professional development.
McAdams is due to receive the award September 25-26 at the Hot Firm and A/E Industry Awards Conference in Beverly Hills, Calif.
