Jan. 21, 2014 @ 08:31 AM

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a winter weather advisory for light snow starting at 4 p.m. today and ending at midnight. One to 2 inches of snow may fall in the region, although areas across the northern Piedmont and northern coastal plain have the highest probability of higher snowfall amounts. Cold air rushing in from the northwest will turn rain to snow this afternoon and into the evening. Roads may become slick around or near the evening rush hour. Due to rapidly falling temperatures this evening and overnight, black ice may develop. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility. Use caution while driving.
