Second suspect arrested in robbery, chase

Durham police on Friday arrested the second suspect in connection with a robbery and chase that involved a car stolen from the Durham city limits and shots fired at a witness following that car.

Christian Kevin Colato, 19, of Liberty Street in Durham was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $320,000 bond.

The first suspect, 18-year-old Jose Luis Perez-Alejandre, faces additional charges filed by the Durham Police Department from separate incidents, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

Both men are accused of robbing a Latino grocery on Wake Forest Highway.
