Pedestrian struck, killed in Chapel Hill
A pedestrian died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Fordham Boulevard and Estes Drive in Chapel Hill, according to the Chapel Hill Police Department. The accident happened just before 8:30 p.m. The victim was identified by police as Lisa Renee Baldwin, 41, of Chapel Hill. The investigation continues.
Baldwin was well-known to law enforcement officers in the area. She had a history of problems with alcoholism and was often arrested for alcohol-related charges in the past two decades.
She was scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court on Thursday for assault on a government officer, being drunk and disruptive and trespassing.
