Duke headed to NCAA final
Duke will get a chance for two NCAA men’s lacrosse championships in a row.
The Blue Devils beat Denver 15-12 on Saturday in an NCAA Tournament semifinal game at M&T Bank Stadium
The win sends reigning NCAA champion Duke (16-3) into the NCAA championship game on Monday (1 p.m., ESPN) against either Maryland or Notre Dame.
Kyle Keenan, in the starting lineup in place of injured senior Josh Dionne, scored a career-high four goals for the Blue Devils. Deemer Class and Jordan Wolf had three goals each for Duke.
After leading 8-4 at halftime, Duke saw fifth-seeded Denver cut the led to 11-10 early the fourth quarter.
Duke coach John Danowski replaced Luke Aaron in goal with Kyle Turri and it paid off. Turri made three big saves late in the fourth quarter allowing Duke to hang on.
The Blue Devils are looking to add this year’s NCAA championship to titles it won in 2010 and 2013.
