Stepfather charged in double shooting
Police have charged a man in a double shooting Friday that wounded him and his 6-year-old stepson.
Christopher Graham was treated for a gunshot wound to his foot. His stepson suffered serious injuries that don’t appear to be life-threatening, police said Saturday.
Graham, 28, is the child’s stepfather.
Police charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, injury to real property and discharging a firearm in city limits.
The shootings happened about 5 a.m. in an apartment at 412 E. Pilot St.
Investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, Durham police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said Saturday.
The child’s mother called 911 to report the gunfire. She told the operator that the child was sitting and that he’d been shot at least once in the stomach.
It was the fourth time this year that a child has been a gunfire victim in Durham.
Graham remained in the Durham County Jail on Saturday under a $500,000 bond.
