An 18-year-old Broad Street man was arrested Thursday in connection with the theft of police uniforms, a Taser and a puppy from a Durham police officer’s home earlier this week.

Christopher Reina is charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, felony larceny of a dog, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of stolen goods.

Although investigators recovered most of the officer’s equipment, a few uniform shirts and the puppy are still missing.

Investigators said Reina allegedly gave the puppy to an unknown family in the parking lot of Beauty World in the 1400 block of Avondale Drive.

“The puppy takes prescribed medication and has been without his medication for three days,” said police spokeswoman Kammie Michael. The people who have the puppy won’t face charges for it, she said.
