Two charged in Durham home invasion
DURHAM - Durham police investigators arrested two men Friday night and charged them with numerous felony offenses in connection with a Jan. 20 armed home invasion on Cole Mill Road.
The men – Brandon Jayne, 35, and Joey Fabela, 35, both of Snowcrest Trail – were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. Jayne also was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction (a sawed-off shotgun) and one count of possession of a stolen firearm.
Jayne was held in the Durham County Jail under a $1.5 million bond. Fabela held under $500,000 bond.
The home invasion was reported at 8:55 p.m. on Monday in the 1800 block of Cole Mill Road. One of the residents was taking out the trash when two males wearing masks and armed with guns forced her back into the house. The suspects tied up the two residents and took several items including jewelry, a cell phone and a white 2003 GMC Envoy.

- Justin Omar Brown, 26, of Alpha Drive in Durham was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree kidnapping. He was released from the Durham County Jail after posting $33,000 bond.
- Michael Travis Lowe, 29, of Drew Street in Durham was arrested Friday and charged with insurance fraud, obtaining property under false pretense and felony conspiracy. He was released from the Durham County Jail after posting $5,000 bond.
- Hasan Waleed Wilson, 40, of Martha Street in Durham was arrested Friday and charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute heroin, selling heroin, delivering heroin, maintaining an apartment for keeping or selling a controlled substance, and possession with the intent to sell, manufacture or distribute oxycodone hydrochloride and fentanyl. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $250,000 bond.
- Vincent Ramon Sowell, 43, of Linwood Avenue in Durham was arrested Friday and charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana, and maintaining a house for keeping or selling a controlled substance. He was held in the Durham County Jail under $4,000 bond.
