Child dies after being struck by car
A 4-year-old girl struck by a car Monday night on Dearborn Drive has died, according to the Durham Police Department.
Police said about 9:20 p.m. Jeri Dee Quick, 4, of Durham ran into the road on the 3500 block of Dearborn Drive. She was struck by a Honda Accord going westbound driven by Jacqueline Lyons, 57, of Durham.
Preliminary investigation shows that Quick was playing in her yard when she saw her father pull into a parking lot across the street. She darted into the street and was hit by the car.
She died early this morning at the hospital.
Investigators said speed and alcohol were not factors in the accidents. No charges are expected to be filed.
