Durham man arrested on murder charge
A Durham man wanted for murder was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force on Friday morning. They also arrested a second man who was wanted on drug and child abuse charges. Both men were arrested at the Extended Stay America on Tower Boulevard.
Durham police detectives charged Christopher Terrell Stanback, 25, of Summit Street with murder in the June 18 shooting death of 37-year-old Jermaine Andrea McDonald.
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 100 block of North Hyde Park Avenue at 11:40 a.m. on June 18. When they arrived, they found McDonald lying in the street. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting does not appear to be a random act, according to investigators.
Officers also arrested Cephus Stanback, 27, of Hart Street who was wanted on several orders for arrest/true bills of indictment for drug and other charges. The charges included possession of marijuana and cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, fleeing to elude law enforcement officers, careless and reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, child abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charges against Cephus Stanback stem from several incidents earlier this year.
