Wes Platt is a Florida native and a graduate of the University of South Florida mass communications program. He worked for more than a decade at The St. Petersburg Times (now Tampa Bay Times) before jumping careers to video game design. He helped develop a massively multiplayer online role-playing game called Fallen Earth for Cary-based Icarus Studios. He joined the staff of The Herald-Sun as a reporter in June 2012. In early 2013, he shifted to the position of news editor and columnist. His columns appear in Saturday's A section of The Herald-Sun. When he’s not adding to his army of desktop action figures, he’s playing computer games, reading and watching movies. He lives in Watts-Hillandale with his wife, Catherine, and their son, a dog and a cat.
