Music all over town during 16th Carrboro Music Festival

The 16th Annual Carrboro Music Festival begins with a preview Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Town Commons. Performing will be Barleycorn & Rye; The Mighty Gospel Inspirations; Mary Rocap with Lise Uyanik, Charlie Ebel, and Bob Mutter; and Charles Pettee & Friends.
Sunday’s free music events begin at 1 p.m. and will feature numerous styles of music from local performers. The event features 25 venues throughout downtown Carrboro with more than 180 musical acts. Among the musicians who will perform are Bevel Summers, Shawn Deena, Milagro Saints, Sawberg Jazz, and many more.
The Town Commons will showcase specialty food and craft vendors as well as children’s participatory games offered by the Kidzu Children's Museum.
Carrboro is partnering with the North Carolina Folklore Society in a celebration of the organization's 100th anniversary. The Folklore Society will be celebrating in Carrboro on Saturday with music, food, art, demonstrations, and more at numerous venues around town.
Chapel Hill Transit will operate a free shuttle to the festival Sunday from noon until 9 p.m. The shuttle will be providing service from the Carrboro Plaza Park and Ride lot (N.C. 54 and Old Fayetteville Road) to the Carrboro Music Festival.
The shuttle will run every 10 to 15 minutes.  The shuttle will make stops along Main Street between the Carrboro Town Hall and the ArtsCenter. Parking will be free at the Carrboro Plaza Park and Ride lot during the hours of the Carrboro Music Festival.
