Man shot on Franklin Street
A man was shot on the 100 block of E. Franklin Street at 2:30 this morning. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Chapel Hill police said.
According to police, at about 2:40 a.m. this morning, Chapel Hill police officers responded to a report that subjects were fighting in the 100 block of East Franklin Street. When officers arrived on scene they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UNC-ER for treatment. His wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers found the suspected shooter, Ladarren Deshawn Parker, a short distance away. Parker, of N. Guthrie Avenue in Durham, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and resisting arrest. Parker was transported to the Orange County Jail and is being held on a $15,000 secured bond.
The investigation is ongoing and further information may be released when it becomes available.
